If you do a lot of client-side code work with Internet
Explorer as I do, then you know how annoying it can be to have to hit
"Tools/Internet Options/Delete Files" to clear your previous
work from the Browser cache. Not only that, but in order to selectively
delete files, you must choose "Settings/View Files" and then
painstakingly find what you need. I thought, "there must be an easier
way" - maybe there is some kind of utility I could have on the desktop
that would, with a single click, show me what's in the cache and let me
delete exactly what I want.
Fortunately, Wininet exposes a number of functions dealing
specifically with cache control. So I whipped up this neat utility "ClearCache"
that you can download below. Very simply, ClearCache comes up at the top
right portion of your desktop showing you everything in your IE Cache.
As you can see from the screenshot below, it offers the ability to delete
all cached files, selectively to delete one or more specific files, and
if the Cookies? checkbox is checked, to also delete either all cookies
or to selectively delete one or more cookies. A real convenience, I have
found. The executable is only 24K.
You can create a shortcut key combination off the desktop
icon such as SHIFT-CTRL-C to bring it up while you're working. Hope you
like it. The download MSI installer file does not include the VB runtime.
