 | The Guru's Guide To Transact-SQL by Ken Henderson is more of a large collection of elaborate SQL Server Transact-SQL code samples than a book that you or I have become accustomed to purchasing nowadays. That being said, those of you who really need a lot of conceptual background information in order to learn probably will not like this book. However, if you prefer a multitude of complex code samples not covered in most online articles or other technical books, you are going to be in hog heaven.
| | | | The author has written a wonderful book that acts like a teacher sitting next to you. Most of the samples are complete stored procedures and not bits and pieces of key sections. This allows you to digest the code and apply it more quickly. Keep in mind, the topics covered are much much more than your typical select * from tablename. Ken goes into great detail with subjects such as Full-Text Search, System and Administration procedures, SQL-DMO, and OLE Automation. Just about anything you might want to do from an administration standpoint is covered in detail. Plus, the section on undocumented features is worth the price of the book alone.
