losing icons in systray WinXP Home
I am losing icons in my systray in XP Home - and it isn't just the icons

being hidden - they aren't in either the hidden or the revealed view.

This is happening shortly after logging in - the process they relate to

(Mailwasher.exe) is still running but I have no way of using it - if I

use a quicklaunch icon it tells the process is already running.

Any advice welcome.

Run program as other user
I tried this question in alt.os.windows-xp but, it seems the kooks currently

have a hold.

Currently, every time I get a security updates for a spyware program, I open

every account and run it to update security. Is there a way to do it all

from the Administrator account?

The other information that seems to be essential is that the other users are

not logged on at the time.

Windows Product Activation workaround
I did a clean install after reformating my existing WinXPHomeSP2. Since

there were no hardware updgrades I tried the workaround - copied the old

wpa.dbl to a floppy , then copied it to System32 in safe mode after renaming

the new one wpa.new. But I kept getting the message to activate. When I

copied the file it was 14kb, but when I looked at it after reboot, it was

only 6kb. So did the original 14kb file get replaced when I rebooted?

Anyway, I moved the 'wpabln' file from Syste ...

Saving/Moving directory structure
New XP Computers. Old W98 and W2000 computers with complex directory

structure developed over years in Windows Explorer.

Question: Is there any way to save and recreate that structure in XP

without having to reenter it the hard way? The goal would be to have the

structure on the XP Windows Explorer, then feed the saved data files

back into it from the backed up files on CD.
