How to Grant/Deny IP Access
I have multiple FTP sites on standalone Win2000 Server and IIS5.0 that are
configured using the IIS Properties sheet, Directory Security tab, TCP/IP
Access Restrictions to deny access to all IP except those listed. This
configuration logic is hardcoded into my FTP app that passes data between
sites.
Now I am finally able to move our systems to WinXP and IIS5.1 but I cannot
find a similar tab or configuration arrangement. Am I missing something here
or am I really unable to d ...

Anonymous http but authenticated ftp?
Hi All,
I've been adding Virtual Directories to my ftp server so that I can ftp
content to and from the http server. So, for example, I've added the
virtual ftp directory "Representations" pointing to
"C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Representations". But I seem unable to remove
anonymous ftp access from this virtual directory. If I try to restrict
access so that the anonymous guest cannot read the files or the
directory lists then the http access gets rejected with a security

Revisit: Slow transfer from remote virtual directory
We've got a high-visibility problem integrating an application into our
enterprise. We've got a Windows Server 2003 SP1 IIS-FTP server set up
with a few virtual directories that point to remote server shares.
Doing PUTs to these directories works as fast as expected (~600kb/s).
Doing GETs from these directories is amazingly slow (~16kb/s).
This behavior can so far only be replicated by a remote mainframe as
the client doing the GET. Internal servers and workstations (Windows) ...

How to Setup an FTP server
I am trying to setup an FTP server on a Windows 2000 server. I can only
login in as anonymous. If I set the login and password to be required, only
the Administrators can login. How do I fix it so you are required to login
in? Also, I would prefer to have the files to be put in a folder on another
computer, preferrably a mac, is this possible. I am presently running into
login issues with this also.
Thanks

FTP Troubles
I am having trouble with FTP in IIS 6 on server 2003 standard edition.
Here is what is happening:
I can setup users with virtual ftp directories, people can upload and
download smaller files. But anytime I have a file that is over around 8
or 10 megs the file doesnt complete the upload when using a program
such as SmartFTP, WS_FTP, or CuteFTP. Essentially the upload gets stuck
at 99%, all the bytes have transferred, but if you dont cancel the
upload when it is stuck at 99% i ...

IIS 6.0 leaks internal IP address in Content-Location header
Hello,
I have an IP leak problem running IIS 6.0 on W2K3 SP1. I have followed
recomendations in KB218180 and configured SetHostName so that my websites do
not return internal IP addresses.
But, my server still returns a private IP in the response to the following
request:
HEAD / HTTP/1.0
I can't find any other solutions beyond the above. Does anyone have any
suggestions?

I have an IIS 6 FTP site. I have A LOT of virtual directories set up,
one for each web site I'm administering. I want user1 to access Site1
and Site2, but not Site3. I want user2 to be able to access Site2 and

I've added user1 and user2 as users and added them to an FTPAccounts
group. They are not a part of any other group and no other settings
have been set on these accounts.
In my Default FTP Site Properties, I checked Read access, but not

550 permission denied?
Hi ,
I've been using Dreamweaver 4 for years now and use it to upload files to my
website, very basic.
Today I've encountered the 550 permission denied problem, I can't figure out
what's the cause.
I was uploading yesterday, no problems but today another story.
I can connect to the web site but I can't upload or delete any files.
I tried the WS FTP client today and the same problem .
I've contacted my provider but it seems there's no problems on there side
Any suggestions?
Thanks
D.

Problem with Home Directory for FTP site.
Windows 2000 (IIS 5.0) and Windows XP. I am setting up my default ftp site
on two machines. One running Win2k the other WinXP. We have an established
folder structure where our base ftp folder (ftpbase for discussion sake) has
sub-folders for each department. One of the folders happens to be named
"Default". This seems to cause a problem for the ftp service. When I ftp
as an anomymous user to the machines, I get put into the "Default" folder
instead of ftpbase. Is this b ...

iis 6.0 ftp and tif files
We use iis 6.0 (on Windows 2003 Server) for ftp. We have placed some .tif
files on our site and when users attempt to OPEN the files, they get an
error message "Unable to open file 'c:\documents and
settings...\2E-1[1].tif'. Check file name and permissions".
The users are using IE 6 to access the ftp site. If they "copy to folder"
instead of OPEN the file, then they are able to open the file locally. Other
file types do not exhibit this behavior. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

Sorting the file list in CFtpFileFind
Hi,
Is there any way to sort the list of files in CFtpFileFind? I want to
retrieve the files in descending order of the modification/creation date.
Also, is there anyway to get just the name of the clip in the directory on
FTP server without using CFtpFileFind with _T("*.*") parameter and iterating
through the list?
It takes too much time if the directory has many files.
Thanks,
Bibo mushi.

default ftp client
Hi
I regularly use ftp to transfer file to an ftp server at work
I recently loaded coreftp (because my webspace needs an ftp client with the
extra security features of coreftp ) and unfortunately made it my default
ftp client
This has totally stuffed up the ftp address bar access to other ftp sites
I can't seem to undo this tragedy and I don't want to unload coreftp because
I need it for my own webspace.
Is there a way to return the default ftp client to ie?
any help appreciated

'connection refused - unknown IP'
I'm getting this when trying to open an ftp session with a w2k3 server.
The ftp server was set to refuse connections to other than a specific
(NATed) IP address (server is in a dmz), but I've switched to 'allow all' .
This is also using the admin account/pswd for the server.
Why would it persist in a 530 error when I'm switched to 'allow all'?

FTP, User id specific home directories
Using local accounts, how do I assign each individual account to different
home directories based from one common root. We do not want to use active
directory to assign these home directories to the user.
For example,
FTPHomeDirectory
FTPHomeDirectory\Human Resources (tied to local account, HRUser)
FTPHomeDirectory\Sales (tied to local account, SalesUser)
How do we accomplish this?
