Size of RAID Groups and LUN
I am new to SAN and we are going to setup a SAN with size around 1TB (EMC

CX300).

We are considering whether we should split the 1TB storage to 2 RAID Groups

of size 500GB. This is because someone mentions that the performance is

better we split it. Is it correct ? Is there any other reason we have to

create different RAID Groups ?

Besides, inside each RAID Group, we are going to create a number of physical

LUNs for different servers. Someone also mentions that we can c ...

After I upgrade OS to windows 20003 R2, then all SAN disks can not be seen.

We use QLA2200F and download the latest driver. Still, all disks are shown

win2K3 storage server remote administration
Hello all

I have a win2K3 storage server (workgroup) which I am currently setting up

in a domain environment with exch2K3. All the documentations show the web

based administration tools.

typically in any windows server you would go to Windows

components/application server/IIS/WWW service and choose "Remote

Administration (HTML)" option and that will be installed. You will connect to

it by going to https:\\server:8089.

But this option is simply not available in my windows ...

connecting exchange 2k3 to windows storage
Hello all

I have been reading MS documentation and searching the web on connecting

exch2k3 to windows storage server. All of these documents refer to installing

the Feature pack, but none of them say how to get the feature pack and where

and how to install it from.

Could anyone shed some light on this for me please?

Many thanks

VDS Hardware Providers (SUN StoreEdge 3511) & Storage manage for SAN's
Hi all,

Has anyone used the VDS Hardware providers with the new Windows Server 2003

R2, Storage manage for SAN's ?

I'm just curious as to how well it works ?

I am currently testing a SUN StoreEdge 3511 that I would like to try the

"Storage manage for SAN's" on. Does anyone have the VDS drivers for this

system? Are they available and at what cost?

I have raised tickets with SUN who have not responded yet.

Thanks in advance

SIS, Shadow Copies, NTFS Compression
I had two more quesitons on SIS I am hoping someone can answer. First, is

there anything I need to worry about in the interaction of SIS and Shadow

from fully functioning? Thanks much.

I have some iSCSI questions for the MS professionals
I have a server running Storage Server R2 and I have some questions about how

data is stored using an iSCSI LUN. This may be a complex question so bare

with me.

I have set up a LUN under LUN Management in Storage Manager for SANs and I

am set up another server to connect to this LUN via the latest MS iSCSI

initiator.

But under disk management on this other server, I‘m prompted to format the

volume. The actual volume on the storage server already has data on it with

can't delete file EA DATA. SF
Hi all,

I've got a problem with my usb-stick.

When I was at the customers office, I gave it to the secretary for

printing a few documents. I don't know what she did, but now there is a

file "EA DATA. SF" on it. The file is locked by windows, and - moreover

- windows tells me now, that the "media is write protected".

I didn't find any hint what this file means for windows, nor how I can

remove it.

Anyone knows?

Thanks.

Regards,

Gerd

I am currently running an online backup service using NovaNet-WEB

I end up with millions of mostly small files on my storage volumes.

Windows 2003 Disk Limit

san disks appearing in double
Hi Guys

I have configured a SAN (an EVA 4000) just yesterday and when I boot up the

servers to which the disks have been presented, the disks are appearing in

doubles in disk management. There are a couple of servers where the number of

disks appearing is thrice the number presented.

For ex. I presented 10 disks to one of the servers and when I go into disk

management, it shows 30 disks (thrice). Another server has 8 disks presented

to it and shows 16 disks. I have done rebo ...

Digital camera question
I have two cameras I connect to the computer.

The Sony, when I plug it in, shows up as "Removable Media."

The Canon, when I plug it in, shows up as "Digital Camera."

Is there some registry hack I can do so that the Canon shows up in

"Removable Media"? Because XP gives you fewer file handling options for

"Digital Cameras."

Thanks in advance.
