7/4/2006 3:38:01 PM Find in files, broken |
I have no idea what happened, all of a sudden I cannot search for a string
in multiple files.
Here is output from a typical search from the Find In Files command.
Find all "HANDLE", Subfolders, Find Results 1, "Current Project", "*.*"
No files were found to look in.
Find was stopped in progress.
This problem exists across multiple projects. I've tried to reset the
project settings but this is not working. The next step might be to
reinstall VS, but I've got to believe there are some settings that actually
control what is going on. Furthermore it does not work in for the customized
"Look in:" settings that used to work also.

Hi Gak,
Thank you posting!
I have performed some research on this issue and found it seems to be a
phantom issue on Visual Studio IDE, it do not have any particular settings
related to this issue. But I also found a simple tricky workaround to this
issue, wish it also works for you:
Press <Ctrl>+<ScrollLock> and try again
I hope the above information helps, if you have any questions or concerns,
please do not hesitate to let me know. I am standing by to help you.
Thanks!
Best regards,
Gary Chang

Hi Gak,
I am afraid this is a random issue and really hardly to trouble shoot it,
and evenly I am unable to repro it on my machine. I also have checked our
database and consulted our corresponding product team, but unfortunately I
don't get any further information about this issue. It appears that
workaround is an undocumented feature of the VS IDE.
I appreciate your update and response. I am glad to hear that the problem
has been fixed. If you have any issues or concerns please let me know. I
will be happy to be of further assistance.
Have a nice day!
Best regards,
Gary Chang

Hi Gak,
I am afraid I haven't found any other workaround on this issue, maybre you
need to try a reinstallation of your VS2005.
Thanks!
