Mail Merge Fillable Form Form Fields Error
Charlene Schaffer posted at Friday, November 14, 2008 12:26 PM
When mail merging a word doc form that has form fields, the form fields disappear in the mail merge process. There is a work around on the microsoft support website (see here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/286841) but the macros that they give are not completely fixing the issue. The idea of the macro is to replace the form fields with place holders for the merge, merge the doc and then replace the place holders with the form fields so that the doc is merged and back to normal. The macros are changing only half of the place holders back to form fields. There are two kinds of place holders ones that say and ones that say . Now I don't know a lot about Macros but what I can read from the content of this one it seems that there was not a rule made regarding place holders that are only labeled . Let me know if you think you can fix me. Thanks, Charlene

The best IT guy in the whole wide world figured out what was wrong. I am slightly confused by what it was seeing as how im only so so with Macros but I think that he gave each form field a specification/subject/title something and the macro could suddenly read hem better...? Or something like that....

-Thanks anyway

Hi Charlene,

I have that same problem with the fix from Microsoft.  Would you mind sharing the fixed Macro?

It would be so greatly appreciated!
