Progressbar and copying files in multi layers

I have a list of files to copy.

I want to use the entity framework to follow the progress, but how do i implement this?
I heard of using the observer pattern, but i'm not sure.

What does Entity Framework have to do with the copy progress? Is the progress stored in a database?
