Microsoft Excel - Difference in a sum formula

Hi there,
I have a cell that I would like to show the difference of a calculation.
For Example.
Cell B3 has 500    C3 has 50    D3 has 450  and I would like E3 to show the difference between the calculation for B3-C3.
So B3-C3= 450, D3=450 therefore E3=0
or,
B3-C3= 450, D3=440 therefore E3= -10

=SUM(E3+D3-B3)

Thank you, that helps a lot.
However I am now having trouble with the circular reference.
I would like the result to be in the cell that is calculating the difference.
I hope this makes sense.

=SUM(C3+D3-B3)

Hi jennifer,

At cell B3 input this number 500
At cell C3 input this number 50
At cell D3 input this number 450
At cell E3 input this formula =D3-E3

Hi Jennifer,

Please use the following formula on cell E3

=D3-(B3-C3)

This will give ur desired result
