Microsoft Excel - horizontal (catagory) axis labels; EDIT Tab=Dimmed...how do I make it ACTIVE?

A number of (initial) X vals. are unwanted.

How do I DEL. the unwanted vals?

You seem to have two different Questions. 

a) The Edit tab being disabled
b) How to remove/trim down axis values?

For b) You can change the scale of the selected axis (horizontal axis), and set a different maximum and minimum values. Also note that you need to change the Major units in this case. Increase it to a higher value, and few points would go away.

For a) You might have to lower the security options I guess.
