Microsoft Excel - sir, i want use combobox in excel for getting detail from other sheet of excel

Sir,

I want i select a name from combobox and excel getting all detail of that person like age, city, phone no. etc. in predefine cells from other presaved data sheet and also i want to use a check that no duplicate value will be entered in data sheet. how i will do this .

Hello Rajan,

Not sure if your combo box question is the same as your later one.

For preventing duplicate entries you can use the following procedure - you can use the whole column ($A:$A) if that suits better.

1. Select the range of cells in which you want to prevent duplicates (for example, A1:A50).
2. From the Data menu select Validation.
3. Click on the Settings tab.
4. From the Allow dropdown box select Custom.
5. In the formula box type =COUNTIF($A$1:$A$50,A1)=1 
6. Click on the Error Alert tab.
7. In the Title box type "Duplicate Entry!"
8. In the Error Message box type "You cannot enter a value already in the list."
