Hi,

I have been given a Dell Optiplex GX620 from work.

For business reasons they have removed the hard drive.

I have tried to use a mini OS on a CD to start the computer without success.

The PC fails to start - all i get are 6 peeps and nothing else. I think these beeps notify a HW issue no surprise since there is no HDD at the moment!

I think the problem is that it is unable to use the CD/DVD drive because it has no drivers.

I think i need to create a floppy disk with these drivers in.

Can anyone advise me further about where and what i need to proceed?

I see no point in buying a replacement sata hdd without being able to boot the machine from a CD to start with.

Thanks in advance.

DVD drive - DELL issue? Windows 7 If I replace a drive in my Dell computer should there be any issues? I bought a DVDRW burner to replace the DVD drive that came with my dell. I needed it to burn to disk the video clips from my new camera. It using it about twice in a week, it just quit - says way I am learning Dell does some things there may have been an issue with that. PS. Two weeks ago I un-install the Nero as their may be conflicts with movie maker - (had this Dell for over two years and never even knew I had a movie player) or media player. So I uninstalled the Nero, having issues with getting rid of All the components - got more information from HERE, still said "please have been on every help site I can find - the more I read the more issues I see it could be. I have read about codec issues - driver issues - Registry issues
Install XP on Dell Vista PC Windows 7 Hi, My friend brought a Dell PC with Vista then decided to return to XP due to hardware compatibility issues. He had a Dell XP install CD from an old laptop that's now broken. Using this old Dell CD he tried installing XP on Vista, the installer copied all the files to the with it. Besides that is seems there are some technical reasons preventing it from installing. Dell installations can be BIOS locked so if it isn't the right board and BIOS won't install. Before trying to install a legit version of XP check on the Dell website for that model to see if there are XP drivers available. Some manufacturers are then buying a legit copy is not an issue. This model is XPS 210 and Dell was selling XP on it before moving to Vista, so we were surprised why XP
MS Office 2003 on XP Office MS office was loaded by Dell. I just noticed it is taking 4094 mb on my hard drive. Is this correct shouldn't it be around 300ish mb? I tried to reinstall it from the disk Dell sent with the computer and it will not load there is an error. Called Dell. That is a joke. Office Setup Discussions Office System (1) Office 2003 (1) XP (1 an XP Pro machine. Alias Any suggestions on what to do. Microsoft says to contact Dell. Dell Does not know what to do except ask for $50.00 to speak with someone the CD is really corrupt or not. If it is corrupt, you can either call Dell and get another one or borrow the same version / type CD from a friend and months I saved my documents and deleted them and the mb's stays the same. Dell said if I did that it would correct the problem that I had too many and reinstall but I can not do that because I am afraid the CD that Dell sent me will not work because it will not reinstall. It stops after loading halfway
DPM Tape Slot Issues I am having issues with DPM not detecting all my slots on my TL2000 tape library. I had issues in the beginning with DPM detecting the cleaning tape so I had to revert to using the Dell web gui to clean the drive. The Tape Drive is an IBM total storage 3573 library and its not detecting the media in slots 21 and 22 even though the Dell software sees the tapes and can move them around. One of the Known issues states "Some tape libraries contain a slot which can be marked as a cleaning slot this? I've had a case open with Microsoft for a few weeks as we're not having much luck getting DPM 2007 communicate from a Dell PowerVault 1950 with a Dell PowerVault TL2000 library (LTO4 drive) via SAS 5 / E. Dell D630 re-dock results in need to hard re-boot Windows 7 I am running Vista on a Dell D630. My docking station works fine if I boot up with the notebook docked. And my system works fine if I un-dock it. However, if I re-dock the system while the system is turned on (either in standby or awake), some of the time the re-dock will be unsuccessful. By is no way to "wake up" my screen so I So I end up needing to hold down the power button and do a cold re-boot. It drives me crazy. Yesterday it happened FOUR times (every time I came back to my desk and re-docked my system). Does anyone have any recommendations? Is it a problem with my dock
