I am looking for an antivirus software that does its job, but does not cause your pc to slowdown because of it.  I want a program that will run, but not constantly intervene with my computing with pop-ups and restart requests.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

there is an anti-virus program that is designed to be much less resource intensive, wile just as capable as the big dogs, and i have been using it for a while with great results.
its called vipre and you can get a 30 day trial at
http://www.vipreantivirus.com/?gclid=CODihqiq9Z8CFQtx5Qod1V0PIg
and licenses start at around $30 a year
