Publishing image (Required) field in Sharepoint 2010

Hi, In Sharepoint 2010, I added a site column of type Publishing image and made it a required field. I included this site column to a content type and then to a list. When I add a new item I get the alert saying "You must specify a value for this required field." after uploading the image to this Publishing image (Required) field This message comes after the field is assigned an image. Is this a known issue in Sharepoint 2010? Please guide me. Thanks

I'm afraid it is an issue in SharePoint, I try this in SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010 and it seems like you can always upload images to SharePoint list, also without specifying a value to required field(s).
