SharePoint - data not copied from the StagingDB to the ReportingDB

I have downloaded and installed Sharepoint 3.0 on my server 2003 machine after installing .Net framework 3.0 and ASP 2.0 (embedded version of SQL Sever auto-installed with sharepoint). IIS had been previously installed. (Sharepoint installation disabled the default web site.) The sharepoint start page came up automatically, as advertised, in and IE window on the server.
