hello friend,

it depends on your requirement, if your using computer for simply browsing the files and doing basic operation than it hardly makes any differences even if msi files are missing.

but if u do some installation on your system , specially related to connecting some remote machine than  it is must.

hi,

yes childmsi file is necessary for administrative privileges which gives pesmission for the install the packages in your computer.Installation packages that use msi files may require administrative rights in Windows , but it might not be obvious how to grant those rights.
