Windows 7 - Windows Explorer converted a folder with photos into a file object. How do I undo this?
Asked By Kevin Flynn on 28-Jul-12 06:49 PM
After a recent hard drive crash I was working to restore files from my external hard drive to my C: drive.
I am not sure what exact action I did but it would have been along the lines of selecting and copying. However, instead of being able to select or copy the folder, the folder disappeard but a file onject of the same name was there. The file size seems about right compared to what the folder size should have been.
Note - another user submitted this same question last year. All the responses I saw indicated that this wasn't possible. I agree it should not be possible but somehow Win Ex. did it.
If you want I can send you the file.

Any additional thoughts on this?
When I ran check disc it deleted the original object (the folder with files which had somehow been clustered into a single object).
I have a back up copy of the object. How can I convert this back to the original folder and files? I tried to perform an unzip operation and had no success (it just created a single identical object).
