Windows XP - unable to connect internet/broadband

I have a Dell 5100 with windows XP media installed. Somewhere along the way it began to run slow, sign on was a 5-7 minute experiance. After an attempt to remove or narrow down the start ups. It started to nolonger access the internet thru always on broad band. I have ran many self tests and found out that the IP shows 0.0.0.0 and was told network card had failed. Then I went to device's and drivers and it says its ok. No internet, and the task bar has gone from blue to white, it appears as though its in safe mode. I'm not sure if any of this is related to new updates reciently installed or not. I run Zone Alarms for security and am unable to get to funtion, or to bring up its opperation menu. I'm just out of ideas, any help would be great. Thanks to all.

Please make sure that your PC is on the network. by following below steps:

1. Right click My Computer.
2. Choose Properties.
3. Select the Computer Name tab.
4. Click Change.
5. Change the Computer Name field to your UDelNet ID (i.e., your e-mail username--e.g., jsmith).
6. Click OK until you are back at your computer's desktop.
7. Reboot your computer.

Ok, removed Zone Alarms thinking it had a corrupt problem of some sort, reboot, no connection. Went to run, entered cmd, typed ipconfig/all and it still shows IP address of 0.0.0.0 and sub mask the same. Do you think the network card has failed??

Yup..That might be the problem else there is no way that it should not work.

See this, i think problem is with your network card. Do check wheather the network card is working proprelly or not. But before that you have to make sure that you have installed the right drivers for network card.

For that just right click on My Computer -> Click on manage -> Device Manager -> Network Adaptors -> In this check wheather you are getting right netwrok card or not.

If not then for sure there is a problem with your drviers. Install drivers again n this will solve your problem.

And if you not get your problem solved then please reinstall all drivers of your machine. May be it is coz of some file missing.

And still you are getting same problem, then friend you have to change your network card. Change it and check wheather you  are getting same prob or not.

I have an old laptop (Toshiba) that needs a wireless card (D-Link DWL-G650).  The laptop is running Windows XP Pro.  I have a Cisco 871 wireless router with two laptops connected to it.  The Toshiba will show the wireless networks but I cannot connect to mine.  I know I should upgrade to WPA2 but right now, I'm using WEP 128.  Using the Windows to configure my wireless settings, I notice I only have an option for WEP and I cannot input the 13 character code for WEP 128.  Could this be why I'm not connecting?  And if so, how do I repair it?
