Microsoft Word - Word 2008/Mac OS X - images (still) won't print

Hi,

This problem seems to have been around a while, but I haven't found a solution that works for me. I have OS 10.7.4, Word 2008 12.3.3, and an HP DeskJet 6540. I have a Word docx file with png images I can see in the document, but not in Preview or in the little thumbnail preview.

Things that I have tried include: turned printer and computer on and off; reinstalled printer driver; checked that "placeholders" was unchecked and "background images" checked in the Preferences; checked that the images were in line with text, not anchored elsewhere or stuck in the header or footer; copied individual images to a blank document (from which they printed fine, but not upon reinsertion in the original document); inserted the whole file into a new document (images still wouldn't print).

I'm all out of ideas, and the internet seems to be too. Has anyone found a solution that works?

Here check one thing-


going to preferences > Printing and make sure Drawing Objects is checked

After that try again.

I have two more that you can try. 

a) In the Word Preferences, go to print section, and select the "Drawing objects".

I saw this where you posted it earlier, and tried all those things, no luck. But thanks. My best guess is maybe it's just the document size.

No, that doesn't work either. I can kind of work around it by making it into two or more documents at a late stage, just before pdf conversion, but that has to wait until all the EndNote references are in their final places because of journal formatting requirements. Right now I just want to print it out and look at it all in one piece.

Everyone - if it is some sort of memory problem (not with my computer, that's got plenty, but maybe in the transfer to the printer?) - is there any way around that?
