After reading all the posts in the group, I tried turning off zone alarm,
and I could connect. After restarting zone alarm, I discovered that that
software distribution service 2.0 had changed the firewall setting for
internet explorer. I changed it back and now IE7 is working. I have
reported the problem to Zone Alarm. I have no idea what "software
distribution service 2.0" is. I thought it was from Microsoft, but it could
be from Zone Alarm or HP.

Thanks everyone for your help with this problem.
