Previous Thread:   ActiveSync error HTTP_400

11/24/2005 2:29:23 PM    Direct sync with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 won't work from WM5/AS4.1 - 0x85010001
Hi!

A problem that's been bugging me for a -long- time now is the problems i've

been experiencing with direct exchange sync (sync with my computer/outlook

does work). It just doesn't work. Anyone else have a feeling that MS have

released these products (WM5/ActiveSync 4.X) far too early?

I've tried the guides available at

http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/742183-1.html

http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x.htm

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/default.mspx

....including installing the server's certificate on my Qtek

9100/WM5/ActiveSync 4.1.

But no go. The error message is "0x85010001 - Your account in Microsoft

Exchanger Server does not have permission to synchronize with your current

settings."

I'd appreciate any input on this one!

Is there a way to verify all settings on the exchange server manually

(outside of the Qtek?). I have more or less complete control over the

Exchange 2003 box since I'm one of the admins there.

I was under the impression that the virtual directory

Microsoft-Server-Activesync was used? The OMA directory seems to work fine,

I could logon using my normal credentials.

The Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync directory simply returns

HTTP/1.1 501 Not Implemented

Check the permissions on your exchange-oma virtual directory.

Fredrick,

If you have SSL and forms authentication for OWA you will need to create

another virtual directory with different authentication mechanisms for

active sync to work. "exchange-oma" is the VD name of choice.

Have a look here for some info on the virtual directories

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=817379

Method two is what I am suggesting.

I believe that the 501 response you get when accessing the

microsoft-server-activesync VD is expected and indicates that your system is

set correctly.
