I have been frustrated, like many others, at the sometimes endless stream of

"converting metafile" alert boxes when viewing a PowerPoint for Windows file

in PowerPoint for Mac.

I found a website that gave a workaround, but it isn't an easy one: one has

to select each offending graphic and Ungroup it successively until it will

not let you Ungroup any more, then Regroup. If I understood correctly, this

process takes the Windows Metafile out of the OLE object and convert it to a

PowerPoint graphic.

The biggest problem with this apprach is that every single OLE object needs

to be individually selected, Ungrouped, and Regrouped for this to work. In

my experience this can be hundreds of objects in a single presentation.

PowerPoint Mac should either get a lot better at converting and displaying

Windows Metafiles out of OLE objects, or should include a bulk

OLE-object-to-PowerPoint-graphic converter tool.

Usually ungrouping the regrouping once is enough.

Give the macro here a go:

Convert all OLE objects to grouped MSDraw objects

You'll need to run this on a PC before turning the PPT over to Mac users.
