2/4/2006 7:25:00 AM    Uninstalling VWD Express 2005
I've been using VWD Express 2005 for the past month and decided to upgrade

to Visual Studio.Net 2005. Problem is, the uninstall for VWD Express fails,

giiving me the message "Setup is unable to determine a valid ordering for

the installation. See the error log for further details."

The error log states:

[02/04/06,00:24:34] Dependency Manager: [2]

CDependencyManager::ValidateDependencyStates() : Parental dependency is not

satisfied for component Visual Web Developer. Parent dependencies can't be

in removing mode.

I tried running the repair option of the VWD install and tried to uninstall

again but received the same error. I have never used any of the betas for

VS, VWD, .NET 2.0, etc. Any ideas? Thanks

I first downloaded Visual Web Developer. I then installed a trial

version of Visual Studio 2005 Professional. Everything was fine. I

then bought V 2005 Professional. I foolishly read the install READ ME

and started to follow directions for uninstalling "pervious versions".

When I got to Visual Studio 2005 on the list, I found that would not

unistall. I also received the same message that you did when I tried

to remove Visual Web Developer Express.

I cannot uninstall or reinstall Visual Studio 2005 Professional, but it

does start up and run. The problem is that the SQL Express was

uninstalled and I cannot get SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition to

start.

Has anyone else run into issues?

I want to uninstall VS and SQL 2005 Express completely and re-install a

clean package.

Any advice?

Thanks,
