Previous Thread:   2000 Member Server upgrade

I configured a backup domain controller. I installed the newest novell client

on this machine. I want to use this server for MSDSS because we want to

migrate from nds to active directory. When I start MSDSS it gives me the

message:

"Windows cannot find microsoft directory synchronization service. MSDSS

might not have been started on the specified domain controller or you are not

a member of the MSDSS admins group"

Is it absolutely necessary to install MSDSS on my Primary domain controller?

This is not wat I want because my PDC is also my terminal server and I don't

want to frustrate my users with a novell and windows logon.

Is there a way to get MSDSS running on an backup domain controller?

I don't think you need to install it on the PDC.

MSDSS requires that you extend your Active Directory schema, and for

that task you need to be a member of the Enterprise Admins or Schema

Admins group.
