Hi. If you are getting planned production orders when you have items in stock
it could be because you have positive days set too low. Master planning sees
the demand, but can't cover it with stock on hand unless you've set enough
positive days.
Same is true of negative days - you almost always want to stop master
planning creating a new planned order if there's an existing order out there
in the future.
Hope this helps.

Hi Tim
Thanks. However I believe my problem is due to the following:
In the help regarding BOM Version requirements in Coverage Groups - I quote
the items ordered are to be produced via a particular BOM version. If that
version IS NOT THE ACTIVE BOM VERSION FOR THE ITEM, THEN, IRRESPECTIVE OF THE
CURRENT STOCK ONHAND, A NEW PLANNED WORKS ORDER WILL BE CREATED WITH DERIVED
REQUIREMENT ACCORDING TO THE GIVEN BOM VERSION IN ORDER TO COVER THE
REQUIREMENT"
My question now is WHY? When does this make sense? What business scenario
does this cover??
