SharePoint - NickBurn

Is there a way to either redirect the storage of documents in a document
libary?
If so how?
The end users want to be able the access files on the normal network share
when they are local and SharePoint when they are away.
They want the changes in either to reflect in the other.

Thanks,

Place the files in SharePoint library.
Let the users access them with via a network place connection when they are
local.
Lie.
Tell them the file they access with the network place connection are on the
file system.
