Usually it is "By design".
That's mean something wrong with your Input to this functoid. Open the Input
parameters window for it and read comment about what specific is for this
parameters. Then check when you have a mistake.

1. Which functoid is it? I assume it is string concatenation, but it
is a bit difficult to see on the screenshot.
2. What is the type of the input element you can not connect to the
functoid?

See to it that the Source Field CustomerFirstname is of type string.
