Unruly server...

J M posted on Tuesday, May 01, 2007 11:53 AM

Hey guys,

I've got an Exchange 2003 server driving me crazy. Everything goes fine
for a little while, then the OM Exchange 2003 Management Pack rules just
fall apart. The server stops sending and receiving mail flow messages
and I get a ton of the events listed below (referencing many different
rules) in the Operations Manager event log. This, of course, results in
many different alerts being created. Restarting the health service will
usually make things run right for a little while, but eventually the
same thing happens again.

I have three other Exchange servers that aren't having this problem.
The only significant difference between them is that the other three are
in the same location as the Management Server and the problem server is
across a WAN link. I'm not sure if that would affect the local agent or
not. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
J M

HiDo you have any other pre-OpsMgr problem with this server?

Hi

Do you have any other pre-OpsMgr problem with this server? For example that
the server cant contact a domain controller or GC?

Not that I've seen.

Not that I've seen. There is only one DC/GC in the Exchange servers AD
site, so we get the occasional LDAP event when the kerberos ticket
expires and refreshes.

Every once in a while, we see this event as well although the server is
a member of the group and there are never any service interruptions
related to these events.

Please check whether the local computer is a member of the group. If it
is not, stop all the Microsoft Exchange services, add the local computer
into the group manually and restart all the services.
