Exchange 2007 cluster and spam filter

orimo posted on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 7:38 AM

In an Exchange 2003 cluster environment the IMF does not work.
What are the options in an Exchange 2007 cluster to run a spam filter?

Exchange 2007 cluster and spam filter

In Exchange 2007 you have two choices using the Microsoft tools.
Since you have to have a separate HT server (you can't have an MB
cluster with the HT and CAS on-box) you can use the
installantispamagents powershell script and then configure updates
from Microsoft Updates.

The other choice is to deploy an Edge server.

Of course, there are all the other appliances and applications that
you can load onto anywhere other than the MB cluster.

- Exchange Server 2007 Clustered Mailbox Server (CMS) role cannot co-exist

- Exchange Server 2007 Clustered Mailbox Server (CMS) role cannot co-exist
with any other server role.
- As Mark noted, Exchange Server 2007 anti-spam agents are installed by
default on Edge transport servers and can be installed on Hub Transport
servers.
- You will need at least one Hub Transport server in addition to the cluster
