Same for me.

Not to be pissy about a free webmail application, but obviously someone
broke something somewhere and this is relatively widespread. Why hasn't there
been an update from Microsoft yet? At the very least something like "we're
aware of the problem and working on it. In the meantime, please use the web
client."

experienced. We are rigorously investigating these errors and trying our best
to get them fixed for you. We can see that there are a number of variables
and no one clear solution for everyone. But we have found some things that
help some people and we'd like to share those with you. Here's what we've
found helpful so far:

Upgrade to the latest version at
http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas. About 60% of our customers
reporting sync errors are still using the old Desktop version. Upgrading to
the latest version solves the problem for most of our customers and may solve
the problem for you.

If you already have the latest version, and you are running Internet
security software, you may find that a Lower security setting on your
Internet security software will resolve the problem for you. Please do
consider the implications of lowering your security settings first and be
certain you are comfortable with lower settings before trying this.

If you get a Sync error when sending mail, please check your Outbox to
see if any mail is stuck there. Removing stuck mail often solves the problem.

These are temporary solutions and may not work for everyone, but they may be
worth a try. If none of these temporary solutions work for you, please go to
support.live.com and submit a support ticket. It will get your
synchronization issue and related data added to that which is being analyzed
for a solution.

We hope to have a great solution for you all soon!"

I logged a note with Microsoft to find out what is happening with the client.

It seems to be a wide spread problem.

When I went to http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas it installed the
old one.

I found the new one at
http://windows-live-mail.en.malavida.com/d3503-free-download-windows (got the
url from another thread in this group).

I suspect the versions are different based on country. I'm in Canada.

Hi LH,you should suggest to your reader to select US English as first language

Stefani posted on Thursday, August 23, 2007 11:40 AM

Hi LH,

you should suggest to your reader to select US English as first language on
their browser.
On the contrary they'll never get the 12.x version of anything.
Even typing the right address.

After US English has been selected on Tools/Options/Language on Internet
Explorer, then http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas will load the
right page and the right link to the new Windows Live Mail Beta (12.x).

Italian language still load the page to the 8.x version (13.5 MByte sized)
against the 12.x (15 MByte sized)....

That URL works only for US/UK locations.
Others should use http://g.live.com/1rebeta/WLM_en-us,
or see my post in the thread "Mails from Hotmail account not downloading"
for a complete list of international versions.

Odd that you can't find an official link on the Microsoft downloads for this
client. But the download from the site you provided does pull from the MS
download area.

Hey, thanks to Magi, I found that the link
http://get.live.com/en-us/betas/maildesktop_betas will provide the details
and download for WLM Beta rather than WLMD Beta even though I live in
Australia! This is the first time I have come across this link in this
newsgroup.
Yet I can't even get to this link by going through
http://get.live.com/en-us/betas/home since all I get is
http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas

Thanks,

I was having a difficult time understanding, but I see now that Windows Live
Mail (12.0.1184) is the new non-beta version of the application previously
called Windows Live Mail Desktop (Beta).

I downloaded and installed the new version and everything is there. Is it
safe to uninstall the WLMD program now?

Actually Bao, Windows Live Mail (12.0.1184) is still in Beta. Thus it is
really Windows Live Mail Beta, but for the purposes of this newsgroup, it is
usually shortened to just WLM.
