Vista locks up/crashes when sending/recv e-mail w/ Outlook Connect

Bria posted on Friday, August 24, 2007 10:06 PM

I am running Vista Business w/ Outlook 2007 and Outlook Connector 1.0 (I
can't use the new version of Outlook Connector because I am unable to upgrade
to Live Mail at this time). Occassionally during a send/receive process, the
system freezes/crashes/locks up and I cannot do anything but manually turn it
off and back on. CTRL ALT DEL won't work, the mouse and keyboard do nothing,
ALT TAb doesn't work...nothing at all. Everytime this happens, I notice that
a send/receive was in progress at the time. The problem is sporadic, but
happens 2-3 times a week.

When the computer re-starts and I start Outlook again, it gives me a message
that it is checking my data file and it indicates that it is ok after
checking for a few minutes.

Any suggestions?

What is being logged to the Event Viewer?

What is being logged to the Event Viewer?

Version 1.0 of the Outlook Connector pre-dates Outlook 2007 and is not
Outlook 2007 compatible.

Just curious; why can't you upgrade from the old Hotmail to Windows Live
Hotmail?

I have Verizon FiOS with MSN Premium and for some reason I cannot upgrade to
Live Hotmail until Sept; so they say.

The only thing I could find in the Event Viewer around the time of the crash
was this:
Log Name: System
Source: EventLog
Date: 8/24/2007 9:30:36 PM
Event ID: 6008

The error you reference to is a computer crash.

Roady [MVP] posted on Saturday, August 25, 2007 12:54 PM

The error you reference to is a computer crash. Check the Application Log
for errors logged by Outlook.

Log in to your Hotmail account; there should be a link there to transfer
your account to a WLHM account. Otherwise wait a week ;-)

Also not in the Options section? Otherwise you indeed have to wait a week.

Nothing in Options either. I'll just have to wait.

I just had it lock up on me again. Any other suggestions?

Don't use the connector for the time being.

Roady [MVP] posted on Sunday, August 26, 2007 4:33 AM

Don't use the connector for the time being. As I said; your version isn't
compatible with Outlook 2007.
