When you uninstall Flashplayer did you do it from Add/Remove or using the
Uninstall Utility from Adobe?

Hi,
Take a look in the following folder on your machine:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
You should have the following executable in that folder:
FlashUtil9d.exe
Connect to the internet and execute that Utility file "FlashUtil9d.exe" and
allow it to update the Flash Player.
Good luck,

Try this. |

Try this.
Uninstall "Adobe Flash Player ActiveX" or "Macromedia Flash Player" in
Control Panel\Add or Remove Programs, if it exists.
In the Registry Editor, go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution
Units\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}
In the LEFT-hand pane, right-click on the key (folder) named
{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}, and choose Delete.
Then download and run this first, from
Adobe:
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe
Then, for Internet Explorer, try the standalone installer. This is the
latest version (Adobe Flash Player 9.0.47.0), from Adobe:
http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_active_x.exe
Before running either of the above .exe files, right-click on them, choose
Properties, and click on the Unblock button, then Apply, and then OK (you
can also check the Digital Signatures tab to check to see that is signed by
Adobe Systems Incorporated). When running the files, right-click on them
again, and choose Run as Administrator. |

Hi Erika,
Try the Manual Uninstall||Re-Install suggested by dean-dean in this thread,
if that doesn't resolve the issue, then try manually executing that Utility
machine.
As dean-dean suggests, make sure you are running as an Administrator, and
make sure you don't have any third party Securty Applications running in
real-time that might block writing to the Registry.
Good luck,

Hi:
I have tried all the suggestions listed and I still have the same result.
It will work while I am connected, but when I reboot my laptop and go back to
the flash site, i still get prompted.
Previously I had symantec anti-virus running; I even tried disabling this
while doing the install/uninstall.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks! |

Hi,
I'm afraid I'm running out of ideas here. From the way you describe the
issue, it sound like the necessary Registry changes are not sticking when
you reboot. I don't use any Norton||Symantec products so I'm unable to give
you any first hand advice as to what settings are required in order for the
Registry changes to take affect.

Internet utilities blocking ActiveX:
Some Internet utilities, such as Norton Internet Utilities, perform
functions similar to a firewall and may restrict viewing of ActiveX
controls. You need to ensure that your firewall or utility settings are set
to allow ActiveX controls or you can't view Flash movies in Internet
Explorer.
When you reboot, is the "Shockwave Flash Object" under Manage
Add-ons||Enable or Disable Add-ons in the Browser showing as Enabled or
Disabled. If it's showing as Disabled then Enable it.
When you run that Utility in the main Flash folded
C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil9d.exe
Right-click and on "FlashUtil9d.exe" and choose Run as Administrator
or
Right-Click both 'Flash9d.ocx' and 'FlashUtil9d.exe', and chose properties.
In properties choose the security tab Click on the 'everyone' account, and
the button called 'edit' and then tick the box called 'allow full control'
and also choose your own Windows local account name.
If these steps don't resolve the issue then I can only assume that it is a
Registry Permissions problem or that you still have a Security program that
is blocking the necessary Registry changes from sticking when you reboot
your machine.
You might want to post you query on the Adobe forum for additional help:

Did you delete the registry key that I noted in my previous post before
re-installing? The only other thing I can think of is to right-click
Internet Explorer and run that as administrator. Then go to the Adobe
download site and try the download again. |

No, the registry key is not necessary for Flash Player to work. |

No, the registry key is not necessary for Flash Player to work. Since
version 9.0.28.0, the key is no longer updated by the Player's installer in
Windows Vista. The current version is 9.0.47.0. I was hoping that by
removing the key that it might solve the Player's confusion as to whether
the current version was installed or not.
One more stab at it would be to try opening Command Prompt, by
right-clicking on it and choosing Run as Administrator, and Copying and
Pasting the following:
regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9d.ocx
Press Enter. Run this command after you have restarted your computer, after
having installed Flash Player, and before opening Internet Explorer. |
