Options for locking documents

Bill Fuller posted on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 2:36 PM

I have a need to force a lock on documents being updated so that changes
made by potentially more than 1 user will not be lost. However, I ALSO have
a need to upload bulk copies of documents from other locations. Setting the
requirment that documents must be checked out/in to change is fine, but I
would like this for existing documents only... not for new ones because a
bulk upload can potentially consist of hundreds of documents that result in
a need to check each one in manually. Is there any way to configure WSS 3.0
to only require check-out/in on existing documents?
