IE Return to Home Option (KIOSK MODE)

t posted on Thursday, October 25, 2007 12:18 PM

Hello, we have the unique challenge: We are running IE7 in KIOSK mode and it
is only allowed to go to one web site (www.jr.com.) How can we force IE to go
back to the root home page of the site after a certain amount of inactivity.
In other words, if someone clicks on "video" then "televisions" then walks
away, after ten minites (of non-use) I want the web pake to go back to
www.jr.com and not be burried in the television section for the next
customer. Seems that since IE has a KIOSK mode this would be simple.

Thanks In Advance

IE Return to Home Option (KIOSK MODE)

Do you control the web site? If so, you could use META Refresh
to do that. E.g. each page would have a timeout which would return
to the Home page. I suppose even if you didn't control the web site
you could still accomplish the same thing with a frameset. E.g. put
the timeout in it.

Perhaps but this isn't the best newsgroup for discussing web development.
Try the MSDN forums for that.

Good luck

Thanks, I was hoping there was a registry key change or a IE Teak program
that would do it. Why MS has a KIOSK MODE for their browser and this option
is missing is beyond me.
