The syntax that you were thinking of should have been this
nntp://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general/1761982
However, OE doesn't support it properly. For it you could try (nonstandardly):
(i.e., substitute the message number with the Message-ID)
Then all your readers have to do is be aware of the default server that they
may have to specify. And that format would be independent of the server
that they would have to fetch your message from. ; )

Ahah ! ...how perceptive, ....and hugely helpful of you !
BIG thanks. Your repsonse, as a NG URL sample and reminder is now in my OE
...very annoyingly, a while ago, I carefully filed away, (inc. into my "OE
Saved Posts" directory), into several places, responses in a NG explaining
how to from this type of URL, and no matter how hard I looked, ...couldn't
find it !
