Internet Explorer 7 Mutiple Windows Up.

Chris posted on Saturday, March 29, 2008 6:55 PM

I use 8 Internet Explorer 7's on my computer for my job. I monitor a campus
with a web control system. My question is, when I go to refresh my internet
explorers, by the time I hit the second or third page, the first page comes
back. I know I did not have a problem with the on Internet Explorer 6. Is
there any options that I need to change to stop this, (can't download
programs to fix this). Because sometimes my job gets busy at times and when
I go to refresh something and look at next page. I don't want the previous
page come up and I troubleshooting something.

Windows version?

Windows version?

=> Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode? To start
IE7 in No Add-ons mode:

1. Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons;
or

2. Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer
(No add-ons).

Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode:

=> Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Advanced settings (RIES)?

Internet Explorer 7 Mutiple Windows Up.

It depends on the implementation of the page.
For some cases it may be sufficient to minimize the window.
For others you might need to use TweakUI (or the equivalent registry hack)
to prevent focus stealing. For the worst cases you might have to disable scripting.

Windows XP, and I did look inton about running without add-ons. It is
already running on no add-ons. I did also check around about scripts and
most of them are disabled.

Were you aware that IE7 was running in No Add-ons mode?

Were you aware that IE7 was running in No Add-ons mode? Does IE7 on all
machines open in No Add-ons mode by default? Did you try RIES?
reply

Repost:

If IE7 starts in No Add-ons mode by default, there's a very good chance that
it's a "horked" install of IE7. If so, I suggest that you...

1. Uninstall IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6) EXACTLY per
http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html

2a. Uninstall all toolbars and third-party Windows Themes (including Window
Blinds).

2b. Disable all Norton Add-ons, if applicable.

3. Reinstall IE7 EXACTLY per
http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install, and using
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/default.mspx as the installation
source, not Automatic/Windows Update.

Tip: Save the installer to your desktop, do not Run it.

4. IMMEDIATELY go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and install any
critical updates offered. If a "Root Certificates" update is listed in the
Optional category, you might install it, too, to take full advantage of
IE7's additional security.
