Windows Live Toolbar button install problem

Gordon posted on Friday, April 04, 2008 4:32 AM

IE7 on Vista Home Premium.
I'm trying to install the OneCare Advisor button but first of all it asks me
to confirm that I am running Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista, and
then fails with the error message:
Please try back at a later time.

Error code 5"

Can anyone help with what is going on?

Sounds like something's gone awry on MS OneCare's end...again.

[[I've been searching for any kind of WLToolbar support for 30 minutes,
Gordon, and I couldn't find squat, other than
https://support.live.com/eform.aspx?productKey=wltoolbar&ct=eformts ...who
will probably bounce you to
http://boards.live.com/safetyboards/board.aspx?BoardID=909. But think about
it: You've already got a Phishing Filter in IE7. Do you need another one?]]

It's not the phishing filter I'm after - it's the onecare advisor tool.....

Yes, I can go to the OneCare site and do a scan from there, but the toolbar
button flags up when a scan is overduee. Just laziness on my part ;-)

Personally, I'd only run the Protection scan (never the Full Service scan!),
and then only infrequently & when all else failed. ESET Online Scanner's
amazing! => http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/
