Internet Explorer 7 - cannot print

CJ posted on Tuesday, May 06, 2008 11:01 AM

Using Internet Explorer 7 on Vista Ultimate I get the following error when I
try to print: "Cannot find
'file:///C:/Users/EVERYO~1/AppData/Local/Temp/Low/TCQM46RH.htm'. Make sure
the path or internet address is correct." (the *.htm file name is different
each time).

I got this after using the system cleanup utility. The same thing happened
about a month ago. I rebuilt my machine to fix it (needed rebuilding anyway)
but I really don't want to rebuild it again.

Looking on my c: drive the folder "c:\users\everyo~1\AppDate\Local\Temp"
exists but "...\Low" does not.

Anyone know how to correct this?

Thanks,
Carl

Internet Explorer 7 - cannot print

Don Varnau posted on Tuesday, May 06, 2008 5:17 PM

Hi,
The Low folder at C:/Users/Marty/AppData/Local/Temp/Low/ is necessary to
print from IE when running IE in Protected Mode. Some cleanup programs, such
as CCleaner and even Vista's Disk Cleanup, delete that folder when cleaning
the Temp folder.

Follow these instructions from MVP Bill Castner to recreate that folder and
give it the required integrity level:
- - -
1. Create a Low folder at C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Temp\Low
2. Start, Run, and enter in the box: (copy & paste or type carefully)

icacls C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Temp\Low /setintegritylevel
(OI)(CI)low

(There is a space between "setintegritylevel" and "(OI)"

Hit Ctrl+Shift+Enter to run the command with Administrator priviliges.
- - -
* In the future, don't allow Disk Cleanup to clean the Temp folder. Clean it
manually.

There's a workaround, but it compromises security. Internet Options>
Security>
Internet Zone> uncheck Enable Protected Mode. The Low folder won't be
required.

Hope this helps,
Don

Printing problem with IE7

Deborah Ford posted on Sunday, March 08, 2009 10:43 AM

Hi Carl

I too have this problem. I recently did a complete reinstall of Windows Vista Home Premium.

Before I did this, no errors printing at all, afterwards, cannot print anything unless I start IE7 without addons.

I have tried disabling then renabling the addons individually to see which one causing the issue but this didn't work.

I am still trying to resolve the problem and will post an update if I get anywhere.

Thanks

Debbie
