Random users getting prompted for login, while other are not ???? - Flanma

We are running WSS 3.0 on Server 2003 with SQL 2000 backend. We have approx
20% of our users that are prompted for a login when accessing the site. We
have the site setup for read access for all NT Authenticated users, and also
have setup the site as a trusted site in Internet explorer. All users are on
XP Pro with IE 6.0. I litterally can have two people sitting next to each
other and one had to login and the other doesn't. Has anyone seen this and
any idea why?

Look at their IE settings.

They need to have the security settings for the zone to which the site
is allocated to be the same.

These would need to be "Automatic login using current name and password".

The setting are set for the zone, as all users are using a registry file we
created to save the stie as a trusted site. We have also have set them with
Auto login with current username and password. Again.. 80% of my people are
working fine.
