KB937882 junked all our clients "Add Remove Programs" tables - MarcelABernard

08-May-08 08:19:01
In order to get rid of the 100% wmiprvse.exe CPU usage I deployed KB937882 on
the site server and advertized it to our clients.

Running SMS 2003 SP3.

The KB article never mentioned that it disables the registry provider
functions or inhibits the whole Win32Reg_AddRemovePrograms class inventory.
Another custom registry provider class we added also disappeared.
Can I get that registry provider class function back in SMS without removing
the KB937882 patch?

Or is it possible to extend the "Installed Software" class using the
AAInstProv provider? I could not figure out what this AAInstProv provider
does and how it can be used and extended. ANyone?

TIA
