Unable to access www.aircanada.com - MC

Wednesday, May 14, 2008 9:13 PM

May 14, 2008

I am having a problem accessing one website www.aircanada.com

I use Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and I.E. version 7. I have high speed
internet on cable with Rogers.

I can access all other sites without any problem. When I access the Air
Canada website, I get this error

Internet explorer cannot open the site http://www.aircanada.com/en/home.html
the operation failed. I click ok and it shows the page cannot be displayed.

I checked the host file using notepad, however, there was no aircanada.com
listed.

Any other suggestions to remedy the problem?

Thanks, Ed.

I can get to it.

It may be a Rogers problem. I use Rogers, and for the last several
weeks I've had a lot of intermittent problems in accessing pages: sites
cannot be accessed at all, then later on they can be accessed fine. It
sort of looks like a DNS resolution problem: maybe their DNS server is
overloaded or flaky.

Can't offer any suggestions as to why you cannot access the site. However, I CAN
tell you that it works perfectly alright from this end.

You're leaving something out of your description. ; )
Delete any Cookies you have for AirCanada
and start with this URL:

http://www.aircanada.com/

What do you see? Watch for symptoms in the Status bar, Title bar,
Tabs, Address bar, as well as the display area. Maximize your
window to maximize the length of the information you can see
in the Status bar.

What about www.google-analytics.com <eg>
Also, there is a lot of scripting done by that first page
so you may need to set Security settings to Default Level
and disable any ad scraper you have running.

Good luck

It is rather embarrassing to even be giving Air Canada my biz.. - Jane

It is rather embarrassing to even be giving Air Canada my biz.. however,
we have few other choices. I am a Shaw Cable user, so it is not a
Rogers Cable issue..
And, some of us randomly have this message..

any suggestions.. from anyone??

How do I employ Firefox to see if this will work?

Thank you.. Jane

If you're using Netscape (AOL) Explorer* as your browser, why are you posting - PA Bear [MS MVP]

If you're using Netscape (AOL) Explorer* as your browser, why are you
posting about this problem in an Internet Explorer-specific newsgroup..and
in a thread started by someone using IE7?

FWIW, www.aircanada.com opens fine in IE7/WinXP SP2 here.

Je suis desole.. I am not using 'netscape'.. I was using Internet
Explorer, and have been using Internet Explorer from the 'beginning'.
Bizarrely, was denied access on I.E., I have recently upgraded to, I
believe Internet Explorer 7.. maybe that caused the glitch. But the
Mozilla Firefox let me in to the Air Canada site. Jane

Without knowing your Windows version, we cannot suggest anything. I will
repeat that I do not have any problem reaching the website in IE7/WinXP SP2,
Jane.
