Live Meeting 2007 Fails with IE8 B2 Installed

Gran posted on Thursday, August 28, 2008 11:24 AM

Just a general comment, but also an inquiry....

Installed IE8 B2 yesterday, and of course, given the sense of humor of the
computer gods, today I have to install Windows Live Meeting 2007 to attend on
online seminar.

Install the Live Meeting Client.....fails to load at the test site (freezes
with an error 12).

Uninstall the Client and try to use the WEB Client....fails.

Go to the Live Meeting Test site, and the WEB Client fails....unsupported
browser.

*sigh*...back to IE7 after 1 day.  Other than that...loved IE8 so far.

Hi, Harel. Why is Compat View not made more discoverable?

Hi, Harel.

Why is Compat View not made more discoverable?

If I didn't know it was there, I wouldn't know it was there.  :>{

The is, I wouldn't have found it if I didn't know it was supposed to be
there SOMEWHERE. So I click Tools and found it.

And it's good that I was forewarned that it is no longer "Emulate IE7", but
now "Compatibility view". I never would have guessed this inscrutable
transition without help.

I've been using IE8 Beta 2 for less than an hour. Who knows what else will
turn up?

Release Notes say that IE8 Beta 2 is incompatible with WLM. Other users
assured me that they work fine together. Someone said it applies only to
WinXP; I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 SP1. Does Release Notes need to be
corrected?

Live Meeting 2007 Fails with IE8 B2 Installed

Robert Aldwinckle posted on Friday, August 29, 2008 1:20 AM

R.C.,

If we take them literally you would have no reason to worry
anyway. E.g. haven't you told us that you only use WLMail
for news and not  _E-mail_?   : )

My continuing complaint with IE8 is how much it messes up
both WLMail and OE's use of fonts and their Text sizes. ; ]
For a few moments I thought that things had changed for the
better and then I realized that the only reason I was able to
bear TNR at all is because I have since changed my Display
settings to  DPI 120...  ; }

ICIM: WLMail (or OE6) with IE8b2 on XPsp3
