Sending NG message via existing Microsoft Communities account fails. - AnthonyWJones

I've got me a new shiny Server 2008 x64 box.  I've installed the desktop
experience because this is going to be my day-to-day workhorse.  I
participate in a number of NGs and was surprised to find an account to
msnews already in place in Windows Mail.  Not only that but it appears to
handle the extended features such as rating.

However when I send a message using this existing account it ends up in the
sent items folder but never appears in the NG.

If  I set up a new account using the older news.microsoft.com DNS then
messages work fine.  I can only assume it the extra stuff that msnews
supports that is causing this.

Anyone else experienced this?

This is a Microsoft problem in synchronizing their Web interface with their
NNTP servers.  My fix was to turn off "Use newsgroup message rating
features" - I lived without them for more than 10 years.

Thanks Frank, as long as its not my config.  I've quite happily used OE with
NGs for many years myself; I've never felt the burning need for the features
MS have added via the web interface.
