maeve posted on Sunday, October 05, 2008 1:15 AM

Hi, I have been trying to uninstall this program. I have uninstalled it from
programs and features in control panel but it is still there. I also get a
message that it wants to start up. I have unticked it from start up but it
still wants to open. I tried search and destroy and ccleaner but it is
still there, How do I get rid of it from my system? I have Vista Home
premium. Thanks

Download, install and update Malwarebytes, and update your Spybot Search &
destroy and your Anti-virus.
Then go into Safe Mode, and scan your system for the rogue Malware.
Use Malwarebytes 1st.

All info below re Program downloading, and getting into Safe mode.

http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6 is a very good, FREE Anti-Spyware Program.
Download, install, update, and immunize your System with it.
Then SCAN with it.
Update it, and scan your System once a fortnight.

Malwarebytes is as the name says, a Malware Remover!
For the Free version scroll down their page to either download from
Download.com, or Major Geeks.com

Download, install, and update.

Important re: Safe Mode
If you happen to find a problem that you can’t uninstall / delete, reboot
the computer, and go into Safe Mode.
To get into Safe mode, tap F8 right at Power On / Startup, and use UP arrow
key to get to Safe Mode from list of options, then hit ENTER.
RESCAN your computer with your Anti-Virus, Malwarebytes and Spybot S & D
while in Safe Mode.

Which specific program are you trying to uninstall?

bluerain posted on Monday, October 06, 2008 10:15 AM

Which specific program are you trying to uninstall? Ascentive's site
has specific instructions on how to uninstall each of their programs:
'Removing Software from your Computer'
'User Manuals and Step-by-step Guides'

Hope this helps!

Ascentive Performance Center

Bud Salyer posted on Monday, January 05, 2009 4:13 PM

I have had the same problem after getting hijacked by Ascentive Performance Center. After days of wrestling with the problem and using several different malware scanners, I finally stumbled upon Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Free download. Takes about two hours to do a full scan, but it will ferret out every last piece of Ascentive and remove it (along with a lot of other crap).
