Main panel of Outlook 2003 shows address info, once clicked, nothing shows in
the Address Card ? Used to be there, but I run Automatic updates so I do not
always see what has been installed ? My Address Book is checked to show as an
Email Address Book with in properties. Also, when I select the To: link, I
show names, but no email addresses, all used to work as well. I am running
RegCure by MS recommendation and Norton 360 v.2.5.0.5 by stupidity.

It is not unusual for the Outlook Address Book to “lose track” of the
connection to its Contacts Folder when you move or import your PST or update
your Outlook version or operating system. Use the following steps to reset
the connection. Note that in some instances you may actually have to remove
the Outlook Address Book completely from your Profile, close Outlook, and
then re-add it before you can get it to work.

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book checked?
If this is grayed out...Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change
existing directories or address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present?
If it isn't listed, add it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed,
then remove it and close then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add
it.

Thank you for responding Russ,

I have faollowed all of the details in your description and the aticle
description for installing the 'Outlook Address Book Service'. I have been an
A+ Tech since 1999 and the removal and reinitalization of Outlook has been
one of the harder ones to correct. I've done the Detect & Repair, the Box is
checked, but I cannot add, an older PST due to a previous corruption factor.
I went to find my copy of Scanpst.exe, couldn't find it, went to the website,
and couldn't find it in Downloads either ? Lot's of articles about it, just
no links for the file its self ? I have about 10 different email addresses
that I use actively due to the types of businesses that I own or manage. If
I totally delete the profile, I can repoint Outlook to use that Data file
when it opens the 1st time. I "Have Never" been able to remove, then Add
back, a PST without the hardcore process, unless I give it a bogus one to
attach to, which requires that I set up one email account, to be able to
redirect it back to the one that has everything stored in it. So, as of this
time, I still have no fax #'s, email addresses or the actual physical
addresses ( keyword ) inside at the vcf level ? All of the info shows up in
the outside display, but not when you dbl click on the individual file ? I
can show you via screen print if you like ?

Where did anyone ever mention "removal and reinitialization of Outlook"

Where did anyone ever mention "removal and reinitialization of Outlook"
(whatever that means), Detect and Repair, adding a different PST, repairing
a PST, or creating a new profile? I certainly never did. Where are you
coming up with this stuff?
Why don't you just do what I posted?
Are we looking at the same thread?

Where are you coming up with a Prima Donna attitude for answers ?

Toby posted on Thursday, November 20, 2008 11:05 AM

Where are you coming up with a Prima Donna attitude for answers ? The whole
scenario as to the reason that I even came to this thread is because the 'MS
way of correcting this issue, as published' DOES NOT WORK !! Never has,
except in some rare, commonalities of ordinary nature I guess ? But part of
this MAY have occured after my discovery that my external USB drive, where
the 'My Documents' was were stored, starting to lose, unrecoverable sectors..
of course some of my data was sitting on top of that failing area. But I
used the Right Clicked My Documents > 'Move' feature to relocate the registry
settings, and yet the top veiwing pane shows that it is there, but when you
click on the contact to open, that data is not there ?

Maybe what YOU didn't read is your simplified answer of refering back to the
article ( which also told me the same thing that you did ), still did not
resolve the issue. My past resolutions that HAVE worked is to detatch the
pst by substitution, then reattaching it to pull everything back. Sorry that
I told you more than you seem to be able to deal with at one time.

Do us a favor, we're not compatible on this issue.. Kill the Thread. I have
been trained that I better have tried everything, before I seek help, and
have a full explanation as to the procedures that I took, before I went back
to an Engineer for help.. Intel Corporation.
